REEDSVILLE, W.Va. — The Preston County Association of Retired School Employees held its first meeting of the year April 11, at the Reedsville United Methodist Church Education Building.
President Antia Mitter welcomed members and guests. Shirley Clark did the devotional. Bonnie Friend gave the blessing. Donna Contic led the group in the flag salute.
A buffet luncheon was served by the United Methodist Women organization. Afterwards, Antia Mitter introduced speakers Brad Martin, superintendent of Preston County Schools, and Lucus Tatham, member of the Preston County Board of Education. They both spoke on the school levy coming up for vote in May.
Minutes of the October meeting was read by Barbara Castle. Motion to approve the minutes was made by Guy Cox, seconded by Kathy Newbrough. Motion passed.
John Lofink gave the treasurer’s report. Motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made by Mac McCrum, seconded by Bonnie Friend. Various committees also presented reports.
John Lofink led the group in singing, “Happy Birthday” to everyone having a November through May birthday. Dixie Adams had a joke for the day.
